Whenever I'm in gameplay on Mafia II (on my steam account) it crashes seconds into gameplay. Usually 5-30 seconds but yesterday it took a few minutes to crash. I've been playing a new game every time and I haven't even passed the first mission because of this.I had Mafia II for a couple of weeks and it was running fine. Then I downloaded a few tools to clean my computer of any possible viruses, it turns out I didn't have any just a few suspicious things.
One of the files that was deleted was 'autorun.exe' by take2interactive which I understand made Mafia II so that may be the cause.I have uninstalled and re-installed Mafia II about five times and still get this problem. Just now I even fully uninstalled it, turned my PC off and back on, got the original DVD for Mafia II (I bought it online in DVD form where it had an activation code and downloaded itself off steam) and installed it through that rather than straight from my steam account, and still it crashes.I'm having no problem with other games, I really don't understand why this won't work. I get what you mean but I was following instructions from a reputable person who knows a lot about it and helps people remove viruses from their computers daily, has been doing it for a very long time. The problem is Mafia II is now crashing, and no matter how many times I reinstall it the game will still crash.I got it to work once without crashing, I right clicked it and ran as admin. I don't remember if I right clicked Mafia II or Steam to run as admin, but I played it for 1-2 hours from a new game and then decided myself to close it.
I had no problems, but it is crashing again now. Came here to view the fix even though the OP was about a year old and this did the trick, the 'Didn't I say that like 12 days ago?' I basically want to and only want to uninstall all DATA of a game off my pc because I can not find the file that is causing me troubles or a way too fix this. If a game is installed, it will be white. Right click it, and delete content. When it is done uninstalling, it will become gray. If you are not sure whether or not it is installed or not, click it, and see if the 'Play' button is replaced with 'Install.' If it is replaced with 'Install,' then that means it is uninstalled.Free-To-Play games are usually removed from your library when they are uninstalled.Non-Steam games can't be uninstalled through steam. For non-steam games, you can remove the non-steam game from the list.Non-Steam mods are removed when you delete the files of the mod.I hope this helps. Ok thanks for all the help I am going to just delete it from the file the Steam files, I was just wondering what files to delete and what happens afterwards.
How To Fully Remove Mafia 2 Full
So for the people giving me the lecture on the whole right click then press delete stuff I KNOW THIS, so please don't say that.I just didn't want to remove it from my libary forever incase Steam actually has data in those files that says if I brought the game and stuff like that. But yes most likely their are some files stuck in the data that doesn' get deleted after the unistall and even after a verifacation because Steam doesn't recognise these files all the time or it just doesn't look for them. But yeah thanks for the help sorry of how tedious this is I just didn't want to loose my game or something important in the process of deleting the game by hand so thanks. I will comment later to say if it worked or not. Delete its folder. All good. You might want to make backups of savegames.Don't worry I have already done that before and Im just about to delete it now I'm on the right computer. Originally posted by:You may need to refer back to the mod page. If it's in the workshop then deleting the folder should be ok, if it's an external mod from a web page, you may find that the installation script adds registry keys, or adds things into other folders (My Documents or AppData) which may linger around. Although if it did that, i would REALLY expect it to come with an uninstall script for the mod.Yeah its not the mod I have tried everything for that trust me I think I just need to start on a clean slate, I don't mind because I can just keep playing the game I love.if it has the mod, the game is just too boring to play because of how little infantry you get in a squad so you really need the mods to improve the game and its AI.
But yeah thanks for suggestion but I have already done that and it didn't work.
